Surb Gevorg
Dry red wine
Origin: An unusual wine, a limited edition of which was created in the private winery SHUMRINKA. Vineyards are located in the vicinity of the village of Gai-Kodzor, where the Surb Gevorg temple is located. The grapes for this complex mix are grown with limited yield. The blend's composition is based on the best batches (cuvées) of Cabernet Franc (40%), Syrah (40%) and Merlot (20%) grape varieties. Some of the components of the mix were aged in French oak barrels for 6 to 12 months. The head of the Union of Sommeliers and Experts of Russia, the author of Guides on Russian and Armenian wines, Arthur Sarkisyan, gave his recommendations to the mix proportions.
Color: Wine of dark ruby color with a bright cherry shade.
Aroma: Rich, complex, with dominant notes of red berries and fruits. Ripe cherry, sweet cherry, ripe red plum, black forest and garden berries, spices, vanilla, aging shades. The wine is constantly changing in the glass: from bright fruit notes to tones of cherries in chocolate, spices, berry liqueur.
Taste: Powerful, complex, with a rich palette of juicy black cherries, blackberries, blueberries, black currants, red garden berries. Owes its volume and complexity to the shades of spices, cherry liqueur. The aftertaste is long-lasting, berry-spicy, with a piquant finish of bittersweet chocolate.
Serving: Be sure to decant for the most complete unfolding of the wine. The optimum serving temperature is 13-15 °С.
Sommelier's recommendation: Wine for long unhurried contemplation with gradually revealing depth of aroma and taste. It goes well even without accompaniment. Gastronomically paired with hot and cold game dishes, complex meat dishes, mature cheeses, chocolate desserts.
